Reputable breeders have puppies which have pedigrees

• When a dog has a pedigree, it means the dog comes from a documented lineage or ancestry of purebred dogs.
• A pedigree dog has parents which are both from the same breed. These parents must be registered in the national Kennel Club - which is member  of the FCI - the largest canine organisation of the World.
• An FCI Pedigree is a printed document that displays the lineage of an FCI dog and contains important information about the ancestors in a dog's family tree. It is basically the official ID card of your dog - if he has a Pedigree you can be sure his breed, age, health status and his breeder's data are trustful and correct.

What is a breed standard?

The breed standard is a description of the characteristics of a hypothetical or ideal example of a breed.
The basis of dog shows is the judging of pedigree dogs against the breed standard, which is a picture in words that describes each breed of pedigree dog.
